About

Discovery is a diverse and inclusive independent day school that educates students aged 18 months to 14 years in a unique program blending the Montessori curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program framework.

Our multi-age classes and low student-to-teacher ratio allow children to fully experience our academically challenging learning environment in a personalized way. Differentiation occurs for students at every level, giving children the freedom to move ahead in areas they have mastered and to take on extra work in areas of emerging mastery. Our students of all ages participate in foreign language, STEaM, and our Youth Philanthropy Program. We strive to ensure that each child's culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure are recognized and valued in our program. Discovery is a special place that encourages knowledge, independent thinking, global awareness, creativity, and mutual respect.

The school's faculty comprises certified lead teachers, associate teachers, and classroom guides who thrive in a climate of collegiality and ongoing professional development. Each member of the faculty and staff works to foster a peaceful and productive work environment for our students. The School’s campus is resplendent with a myriad of natural features, including a canopy of mature Live Oaks, an edible schoolyard, gardens, natural pathways, and an inner courtyard that lends a village-style atmosphere.

Discovery was founded in 1990 and is a qualified tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Board of Trustees governs the school's strategic direction, and the day-to-day operations are conducted under the direction of the Head of School. Discovery is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools,  the American Montessori Society, and is an International Baccalaureate World School.
