Elizabeth Zettler is a Georgia native that made her way to Florida with her husband around 10 years ago. After teaching in schools for a long time, she made the decision to step back from teaching full-time to spend more time with her daughter to soak up all she can of the younger years. With a love of teaching, a curiosity for learning, especially in the craft skills area, and a background in music and theatre, it only seemed natural to begin bringing art, music, and theater experiences to kids and adults in the area! Her background in her education supports her ability to bring developmentally appropriate activities for kids to support their learning both in her classes and outside them, and her classroom experiences help her navigate the array of personalities in each class. Her goal with every class is to make learning fun and ensure everyone leaves feeling happy and accomplished!

In Discovery Strings we will learn basic techniques on the violin, viola, and cello. Using the founding principles of the Suzuki Method, we will learn how to play in a small ensemble, develop a musical ear, and learn songs through memory games and the mother-tongue approach. Discovery Strings is an opportunity to introduce your child to the wonderful world of self-expression through playing a stringed instrument. These group lessons will explore classical music, composers, and how stringed instruments fit into modern music.
Created and directed by violinist Allison Marshall, this hour-long class will meet weekly and encourage a love of music in a fun and challenging environment. The development of the young musician will be nurtured in a uniquely fun, immersive, and successful approach to learning music.
Instruments can be rented or purchased locally at The Violin Shop and students will be encouraged to practice at home in between sessions. All students are encouraged to start on the violin if this is their first introduction to playing a stringed instrument. The Suzuki Method is based on the belief that “Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability, just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue. The potential of every child is unlimited.”
