The Discovery School offers after school enrichment opportunities for our current students, alumni, and community members. Our After School Adventures Program strives to offer a variety of athletic, academic, and art focused classes for all ages.

HappyFeet is a fun story time with a soccer ball Program that uses familiar songs, stories, and games with a soccer ball to build coordination, balance, and creative thinking.
The kids will have a blast learning about Bob the Bobcat (our famous soccer ball) and performing basic soccer skills.
The curriculum intertwines stories and adventures in each class to ensure the kids are engaged and having fun, while building confidence and getting hundreds of touches on their soccer ball.
Each child enhances their self-concept, while learning real soccer moves - all with a unique, imaginative twist!

K - 7TH GRADE

The Knight School chess approach is a unique, revolutionary, high-energy, clock-slapping, dizzying array of super-cool chess activities.
Our hilarious instruction, bully-free environment, wristband rewards for tactics mastery, thought provoking puzzlers, driving music, exhilarating tactical lessons, and Mardi-Gras-bead chess tournaments make every single class a ton of fun!

For kids ages 3-5, Little Geniuses puts on a high-energy 45-minute chess practice in which kids earn brightly-colored silicone wristbands and look forward to our 22 daily activities.
Kids report chess class to be the favorite part of their week because they find our developmentally targeted thinking activities compelling, exhilarating, gratifying and FUN!

The Fitness and Character Education (F.A.C.E.) program developed by Mr. Kirk Farber, 7th degree Black Belt and Seminar Speaker, combines his 25+ years training in Martial Arts, jumping rope, and juggling to guarantee results in agility, coordination, focus, and timing for today’s youth.
Mr. Kirk incorporates building self-esteem and character education through public speaking on character traits during every class session.
This program is for Upper Elementary, Lower Elementary, and Kindergarteners.
4th - 8TH GRADE

Unleashing creativity, diving into the design process, and exploring technology are always welcome in maker hour.
Children are encouraged to explore their STEM interests utilizing the amazing space that is our school's STEAM Lab. With the resources available, students will be able to investigate a variety of topics including coding, robotics, engineering design, and more.

We are UnPlugged from technology and connecting outside in nature. This is a fun, experiential club focused on enhancing social and emotional growth for K-2nd and 3rd/4th graders.
Our hands-on, team building games are led by licensed mental health counselors who model social growth in a positive and encouraging manner. Each child has a voice in forming the club activities and their strengths are highlighted during our time together.
We value individuality and creativity. As we identify skills to practice, we incorporate those into the structure of our games. Parent communication is key, each week your child will come home with a summary of our skill building activities and how your child can to practice and teach others their new skill at home!
1st to 8TH GRADE

Why does brown food taste better than light food? How can you cook without heat? How does brining impact the texture of meat? What is the difference between searing, brazing, broiling and baking? All of these questions and more will be part of this hands-on learning experience.
If you want to learn some kitchen basics as well as a few sophisticated techniques, this is the adventure for you (and your tastebuds)!

Keep calm and craft on with Ms. Kelly on Thursdays! Children age Kindergarten-2nd grade will be sure to love this yoga class to balance mindful movement, poses, and calming arts. No prior experience is needed!
Be sure to bring comfortable clothes for movement, a yoga mat or beach towel, and a snack.

FACE incorporates self-esteem building and character education through public speaking on a specific word or theme within every class session. This arrangement allows FACE to enhance both academic and life skills development. FACE includes a strong focus on fitness - Martial Arts, Animal games, jumping rope and juggling. While fitness training for young people is important, character building is equally essential. FACE helps students become classroom leaders.
Kirk Farber has been teaching FACE at TDS since 2005.

FIRST® LEGO® League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem solving experience through a guided, global program, helping today's students and teachers build a better future together.
Discover is a playful introductory to a STEM program and ignites young students' natural curiosity and builds their habits of learning with hands-on activities in the classroom and at home using LEGO® DUPLO® bricks.
First LEGO League: Discover is led by Ms. Stacy and meets based on the After School Adventures calendar during the following dates.
- Session 1: September 13th - November 19th. No Monday meeting on: 10/18.
- Session 2: January 10th - March 11th. No Monday meetings on: 1/17 & 2/21.
- Session 3: March 21st - May 20th: No Monday meetings on: 4/18 & 5/16.
5th - 8tH GRADE

The mission of FIRST® is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Engage 5th-8th grade students in exciting, mentor-based, research and robotics programs that help them become science and technology leaders, as well as well-rounded contributors to society.
FIRST uses strategies known to increase student interest in STEM: hands-on learning, working as a team on real-life problems, exposure to careers and adult mentors, emphasis on FIRST Core Values, and a culminating celebration where students can showcase what they created and learned.
FIRST participants also develop skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and communication, preparing them for success in school and the workforce, no matter what path they take.

(Meeting Every Other Week)
Let’s start by explaining what this after school club will NOT be. We will NOT be doing pages of math worksheets. We will NOT be learning or reviewing prescribed procedures to arrive at answers. And lastly, we will NOT be working in isolation.
We will be working together and looking for the beauty in mathematics. We will be looking at patterns, geometry, and learning about numbers in ways that will be new and exciting for all students.
We will be playing board games, working online, and creating projects that show mathematics in new and exciting ways.
We will meet every other Wednesday (that are not school holidays) and the dates follow:
