An introduction to the joys of play production and all things theatre! Students will be provided with opportunities to create backdrops, help with costuming, makeup, as well as perform in the show! This will be a warm environment, encouraging cooperation with others, exploring creatively, and engaging their senses. This summer we will put on our own production of the play, Mother Goose's Goose is Loose: A play told in rhyme, by Leslie Tyron. Nursery rhymes support a child's ability to build memory, recall information, expand their vocabulary, and aid in their articulation. The theatre has always offered children a safe space for expression and play production helps the child improve their social skills and promotes a sense of community, as the children work together towards a common goal. Each session is 2 weeks long!

Camp Solana is a mini-camp facilitated by Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Caitlin Anderson. Camp Solana is a hands-on, multi-sensory based writing (and pre-writing) camp. The goal of this camp is to provide your child with a sensory rich environment and developmentally appropriate pre-writing and handwriting instruction. Research indicates that skilled handwriting improves overall academic performance. Activities and lessons are designed to target fine motor, visual motor, and sensorimotor skills through movement, music, crafts, play, and more! The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum will be used to teach basic principles. Ms. Caitlin loves targeting the underlying skills needed for handwriting while having fun and seeing the big smiles from kids when they realize how far they have come.

Under the guidance of experienced teachers, our LEGO®-based engineering summer camps give kids the chance to apply real-world STEM concepts as they build their own creations. For bonus fun, projects are often tied to popular themes like robotics, space and amusement parks.
Kids discover more about STEM concepts and develop skills like critical thinking, collaboration, innovation, communication and much more! The interactive design of our LEGO®-based summer camp lends itself to social growth and self-discovery just as much as technical learning.
We provide all the supplies and equipment needed to keep the interaction and discovery flowing. The pace is fast and the action never stops at our LEGO® summer camps, with plenty of games and play time. We’ve designed a camp structure that combines technical, STEM-focused model building with free-play sessions that encourage kids to unlock their imaginations!

The Jacksonville Athletic Club works with kids of all ages, and where they differ from other track and field clubs is that they want the best LONG TERM development for your child.
What they strive to do with kids ages 5-14 is teach them sound fundamentals, so that children will be able to continue to improve year in and year out. They don't pressure them to compete, rather allow them to have fun, learn, and become better athletes. They teach the kids how to do things properly from the beginning, so that the children will have long term success.

HappyFeet Soccer is a great way to start teaching your child about healthy habits. We teach Soccer foot-skills which help them with balance, coordination, and agility while also focusing on building their self-confidence through Soccer performance. HappyFeet Classes are non-competitive and therefore a lot of fun.
We use familiar songs, stories, nursery rhymes and fun games to introduce soccer to children as young as two years old. Our unique curriculum triggers your child's imagination by taking their soccer ball, Bob the Bobcat, on adventures to the zoo, the movies, and even an enchanted castle! Our philosophy and curriculum encourages children to tame their bobcat with their learned deceptive dribbling and ball striking skills. We leverage creative play and the important developmental skills it provides to make fitness and soccer their favorite weekly activity!

Cool Jewels is the place to begin your artistic journey into the world of jewelry making. We will begin by introducing you to the most common tools and techniques including knotting, wire wrap, hammering and stringing. We will also learn to work with wire to create our own ear wires and headpins.
With these skills you can design and create any jewelry design you can dream up using materials such as leather, hemp, wire, stones, freshwater pearls and crystals. By the end of the course you will have made necklaces, earrings and bracelets.
Cool Jewels by Ms. Kim is led by Upper Elementary teacher Ms. Kim, owner of Waikalua Jewelry Design whose designs are available for sale locally at Seaside Shoppes.

Is it possible to add two half day camps (a.m. and p.m.) at Discovery to make a full day of camp?
Yes! In the event you need a full day of coverage please select a morning and afternoon special camp. In addition, many campers also bring a lunch which the school will store for the camper. Finally, Discovery will have staff on site to sit with the campers at lunch while also helping to make sure all campers find their camp.
What does my child need to bring to camp?
What if I never receive the Welcome email?
Please email camps@thediscoveryschool.org
What is Discovery’s refund policy?
If a parent or guardian of a camper that has his/her camp tuition paid in full asks to withdraw from a camp for any reason the following refund policies apply:
- In the event of a cancellation, Discovery will issue a refund for the camps they host. Discovery hosts other camps with their own cancellation policy. These camps are: JAC, Bricks4Kidz, KidsCanCode, The KnightSchool, HappyFeet, and Challenge Island.
- Cancellations must be made at least one week (7 days) prior to the beginning of that session, otherwise full payment is required. Any exceptions to the cancellations policy will be made at the sole discretion of camp administration.
- The only exception to this policy is an illness with qualifying documentation.
- Camp fees will be returned if a camp is canceled.
- Please email camps@thediscoveryschool.org with all refund and program withdrawal requests. In your email please include the camper's full name, the program name to be withdrawn from, the reason for the withdrawal.
