Admissions

Welcome to our Admissions Office

We look forward to having a conversation with you via phone, video chat, or email about The Discovery School and the admissions process for 2024-25 school year.

Please contact Nita Hurley and Meghan Devlin, Directors of Admissions, for information about The Discovery School and our admission and financial aid processes.  Please submit your inquiry via the Online Inquiry Form below or email us at admissions@thediscoveryschool.org.

On behalf of the entire Discovery School community, we welcome our prospective families! We are delighted that you have chosen to explore the possibility of a Discovery education for your child. For the past thirty-two years, Discovery has remained committed to building a foundation of learning offered through a progressive, innovative education that honors diversity.

Building on a foundation of Montessori principles, like experiential learning, and moving through the inquiry-based IB Primary Years Programme, Discovery students are accustomed to a constant process of questioning, considering, and refining their understanding. Discovery prepares children for a world we cannot yet image, while connecting them to the natural environment that surrounds us all. It is a powerful mix.

We invite you to experience The Discovery School in person because families who visit fall in love. Attend an Open House or schedule a tour of our beautiful campus. The moment you walk through our doors, you’ll know what sets us apart.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for the current and future academic years. We encourage you to engage in the admissions process as early as possible to secure a Discovery classroom placement for your child. We facilitate your child's class placement through your partnership with our Admissions Office and lead teachers, taking into account your child's emotional and academic readiness, as well as the existing classroom student body.

In support of our vision to cultivate an inclusive and vibrant community that promotes knowledge, creativity, independent thinking and mutual respect, The Discovery School embraces diversity across our contingencies, including families, students, faculty, and staff. The Discovery School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, or ancestry in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, or any other school-administered programs. Need-based scholarships are available.

The Discovery School accepts the McKay, Step-up, Gardiner, Family Empowerment, and Hope scholarships.
Discovery can accommodate specific students who qualify for FES’s Unique Abilities Scholarships in accordance with the requirements under federal and local law. These students will be assessed through the Admissions process and if it is determined that they can successfully be accommodated by Discovery while upholding the school’s mission, admission may be granted. Your child may not necessarily receive the types of accommodations or related services that your child may be entitled to receive at a public school, as public schools have different obligations under the IDEA. The IDEA does not apply to private schools.
